ico-D is pleased to endorse Was. Is. Always: South to North which will comprise a series of community led workshops in Sweden, Greenland and Denmark bringing together researchers, students, industry, and other organisations involved or interested in Indigenous design. The primary aim of the workshops is to progress discussion towards the realisation of an International Indigenous Design Charter, outlining the appropriate use of Indigenous knowledge in commercial communication design practice.
The Was.Is.Always: South to North in-country workshops will be held in collaboration with local Sami and Greenlander hosts and contributors, and officially opened by Damien Miller, Australian Ambassador to Denmark, Norway and Iceland.

Wednesday 9 November – Jonkoping, Sweden – Workshop 1: Time: 1pm – 4pm. Venue: Jonkoping University
Saturday 12 November – Nuuk, Greenland – Workshop 2: Time: 10am – 4pm. Venue: Greenland/Ilismatusarfik University
Tuesday 15 November – Copenhagen, Denmark — Workshop 3: Time: 10am –2pm. Venue: KEA, Copenhagen School of Design and Technology
Tuesday 15 November – Copenhagen, Denmark — Final Presentation: Time: 5.30pm –7.30pm. Venue: Greenlandic House
